The Charts Portal interface with ReservHotel.com has allowed Country Club Hotels & Resorts to receive bookings via the GDS systems of Sabre, Galileo, Amadeus, WorldSpan, as well as Pegasus, without having to manually set up an allocation of rooms or manage their PMS availability when bookings are received.

South Australian Hotel Chain, Country Club Hotels & Resorts, became Australian leaders this month, when 4 of their properties became the first in the country to directly interface from their in-house reservation system, Charts, into the Global Distribution System (GDS).

Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Bullock, said it was highly pleasing that the properties were able to implement the new technology, which will give them an increased profile on the global stage.

The GDS is a booking system that allows Australian & International Travel agents to book and ticket flights, car rental and accommodation, as well as acting as a booking channel for direct retail sales over a selection of major websites.

`By creating a direct interface from Charts with the GDS, it allows each of our properties to sell down to our very last room to anywhere in the world,' Mr Bullock said. 'Not only does that obviously benefit us, but it means that agents and consumers all over the globe can buy with the convenience of instant confirmation and the confidence that we won?t be overbooked.'

In the past, operators have had to manually allocate a percentage of their room allotments to the GDS, and then update their reservation systems accordingly as bookings were received. With the advent of this Charts technology from OnLine Systems, Mr Bullock suggests, `We are the first in Australia to be implementing this technology; actually, as far as we know we may even be the first in the world!'

Properties within the group that are interfacing directly with the GDS from the Charts reservation system include McCracken Country Club (Victor Harbor), Royal Coach Motor Inn (Adelaide CBD), Clare Country Club (Clare Valley) and the John Pirie Motor Inn (Port Pirie).
