OnLine Systems heartily congratulates all nominees and winners of the prestigious Golden Backpack Awards presented at a gala dinner in Sydney on 13 November.

Golden Backpack Awards 2008

The Golden Backpack Awards 2008 shone light on many outstanding players in the Australian and New Zealand hostel industry.

Special 'Bravos!' go to our clients Adelaide Central YHA, who achieved the award for Best Hostel in South Australia, and clients Westend Backpackers Sydney, YHA Hobart, Haven Resort Alice Springs, YHA Darwin, Beaches Hervey Bay and Perth City YHA for being Finalists as Best Hostels in their respective states.

The event culminated in the presentation of the Outstanding Achievement Award by Australian movie icon Jack Thompson. This was awarded to John and Sally Bush of Beaches Backpackers Airlie Beach and Hervey Bay. John and Sally are deserving recipients of this award, having spent over 25 years in the backpacker industry in Queensland. It was good to see some pioneers of the industry rewarded.
